Horse Goes For $5 Million At The Keeneland January Sales

Which horse went for $5 million? Who did she go to? When was she sold?

Her name is Abel Tasman and she was sold to Coolmore’s M.V. Magnier. This sale was on day one of the Keeneland January Sale on the 8th.

Abel Tasman is the 5-year-old daughter of Quality Road and cataloged as a broodmare prospect. She won the 2017 Kentucky Oaks (G1), Acorn (G1), and Coaching American Oaks (G1). She was that year’s champion 3-year-old filly and in 2018 she won the 2018 Ogden Phipps (G3) and Personal Ensign (G1).

Summer Wind Equine paid $750,000 for A Star Is Born (IRE). She is the daughter of Galileo (IRE) in foal to War Front. Ardfield Bloodstock paid $375,000 for the session’s top-priced yearling. A colt by Into Mischief whose third dam is Personal Ensign.
