The 39th Taste of the Bluegrass was on Friday, May 17th at Keeneland’s Keene Barn. More than 60 of the region’s best restaurants, breweries, wineries and distilleries offered tastes of their best foods and drinks. Several vendors from the Beaumont Centre area were there including Bluegrass Hospitality Group, Bru Burger, City Barbeque, Dad’s Favorites, Keeneland Hospitality, Sedona Taphouse and Sullivan University.
Taste of the Bluegrass is God Pantry Food Banks’ annual fundraiser. This unique fundraiser allows attendees to sample food and drinks all night, listen to live music from The Mercy Men and participate in a silent auction. Through this event and other partnerships, God’s Pantry Food Bank provides more than 121,400 meals every day for hungry people in Central and Eastern Kentucky across our 50-county service area.
Among the judges was Jason Smith, the self-taught cook and baker from Grayson, Kentucky, who is currently a judge of Best Baker in America. Smith joined the judges’ team to find the best dessert made with his “southern trinity” of bacon, bourbon and butter. The winner of the Southern Trinity Dessert award was Sweet LiLu’s.
Taste of the Bluegrass is a great way to experience the best food and drinks in the bluegrass while supporting a great charity. This event allows attendees to sample foods they may never order at the restaurant, and gives them the opportunity to speak with the chefs, brewers and experienced team members of their favorite local establishments.
